Privacy Policy

Our Commitment
Ainoa is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data, store everything locally on your device, and never sell or share your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Ainoa collects and stores the following information locally on your device:
- App Usage Statistics: Which apps you use and for how long, to provide insights and enforce usage limits you set
- Blocked App List: Apps you choose to block
- Schedule Settings: Your blocking schedules and preferences
- Focus Progress: Your focus streaks and blocking statistics
- App Settings: Your personalization preferences
- Location (optional): If you create a location-based schedule, Ainoa reads your current location to determine whether you are inside or outside the radius you configured. Location is used strictly to evaluate these schedules in real time — it is never stored, never transmitted off your device, and never shared with us or any third party. Locations you configure for schedules (latitude, longitude, radius) are stored locally as part of your schedule settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to:
- Block apps according to your schedules and preferences
- Display your usage insights and statistics
- Track your focus streaks and blocking statistics
- Sync settings across reinstalls (if you enable Cloud Backup)
3. Data Storage
All your data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your usage statistics, blocked apps, or personal information.
If you enable the optional Cloud Backup feature, your settings and preferences (not usage data) are encrypted and stored securely to allow restoration on a new device.
Location data is handled with extra care: your real-time location is read only when a location-based schedule needs to be evaluated, is processed entirely on your device, and is discarded immediately after use. It is never logged, stored, uploaded, or included in Cloud Backup. Only the location coordinates you explicitly configure when creating a schedule (e.g., the address and radius you pick for "block at work") are persisted, and those stay on your device.
4. Third-Party Services
Ainoa uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions. RevenueCat receives transaction data from Google Play to process your subscription. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play: For app distribution and subscription payments. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics: For anonymous crash reporting to help us improve app stability. Crashlytics collects device information (model, OS version) and crash stack traces. No personal data or usage activity is included. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
5. Data Sharing
We do not:
- Sell your personal information
- Share your data with advertisers
- Track your behavior for marketing purposes
- Use your data for any purpose other than providing the app's features
6. Permissions
Ainoa requires certain Android permissions to function:
- Usage Access: To monitor which app is in the foreground and enforce blocking
- Display Over Other Apps: To show the block screen when you open a blocked app
- Accessibility Service: To detect and block URLs in browsers, and to trigger blocking when a blocked app is opened
- Notifications: To show reminders and status updates
- Location (Precise, Coarse, and Background) — optional: Requested only when you create a location-based schedule. Ainoa uses your location strictly to evaluate whether you are currently inside or outside the radius you configured for that schedule. Background access is required because the blocking decision must be made the moment you open a blocked app, which can happen while Ainoa's user interface is not on the screen. Location is not stored, not uploaded, and not shared. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time; doing so simply disables location-based schedules while leaving all other features working.
These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and not for data collection.
7. Children's Privacy
Ainoa is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Data & Account Deletion
Local data: You can delete all locally stored data at any time by:
- Clearing the app's data in Android Settings
- Uninstalling the app
Cloud data & account: If you have Cloud Backup enabled, you can delete your cloud data and sign out from within the app:
- Open Ainoa > Settings > Cloud Backup
- Tap "Delete Backup" to remove all cloud-stored data
- Tap "Sign Out" to disconnect your Google account
Request account deletion: To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, email us at support@appbear.io with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will process your request within 14 days and confirm once all data has been permanently deleted.
The following data will be deleted upon request:
- Cloud backup files (encrypted settings and schedules)
- Firebase authentication record
- Any metadata associated with your account
9. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal data:
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR):
- Right of access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data (see Data & Account Deletion above)
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Right to restriction: Request that we limit how your data is processed
For California residents (CCPA):
- Right to know: What personal information we collect and how we use it
- Right to delete: Request deletion of your personal information
- Right to opt-out of sale: We do not sell your personal information to anyone
- Right to non-discrimination: You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights
Legal basis for processing (GDPR): We process data based on (a) your consent when you enable optional features like Cloud Backup or location-based schedules, and (b) our legitimate interest in providing the app's core blocking functionality using data stored locally on your device.
Since almost all data stays on your device, most of these rights are automatically satisfied. For Cloud Backup data or any other requests, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date.
